Debating & Public Speaking
Amity College endeavours to equip our students for success across a range of subject-areas. We hope to build the confidence of our students to enable them to become valuable members of Australian society. In 2017, The English Faculty launched an exciting new elective for our Year 9 students, Power of Speech, with the hope of empowering our Stage 5 students with the skills needed to express themselves effectively in a range of scenarios.
The course takes the students through a range of oratory methods, including Debating, TED Talks, slam poetry and story-telling, with the intention of improving their skills in their writing and delivery skills. Students are exposed to expert examples of a range of different speaking modes, and work on applying effective techniques to their own work in a practical way.
