STEM Maker Faire 2022 at Amity College featured Young Engineers from our Illawarra campus showcasing their 3D printed items, sunlight directed vehicles and many more. Our graphics technology students showcased their designs and smart builds. We had SAGA graduates in STEM fields speaking to students about STEM careers.
Year 9 STEM students showed their projects about renewable energy, year 10 STEM students showed their augmented reality projects made by ‘Reality Composer’ and smart home projects.
Year 9-10 robotics students showed their robotics projects. They included a rubiks cube solving robot, line following robot, staircase climbing robot, a physics free fall experiment with robots that calculate the value of gravitational acceleration g=9.8 m/s^2, a robot which calculates the coefficient of friction, grabber robots and a robot safe for securing your money or valuables.
We also had scientific demonstrations and an autonomous drone show where drones pass through hula hoops in a loop. At recess and lunch, we had water rockets, coke-mentos explosions and a sodium explosion.
Another highlight was our primary school STEM students participating for the first time. Their spheros and puzzles were quite competitive.
Finally Industrial Technology jewellery boxes had great craftsmanship and the food technology and smart chef displays were everyone’s favourite destination.
Maker Faire was an amazing, collaborative, and fun experience for students to showcase their projects and learning experiences. Students had an opportunity to show examples of their work and they interacted with other students too. Year 8 Technology students displayed some jewellery made using resin and paper. They also demonstrated how to make resin and paper bead jewellery. Year 10 Smart Chef students made thirst quenching drinks and desserts while Year 11 Food Technology students made appetising snacks using cassava as a staple food. Cassava snacks were very popular as not many people tried this before. Also, there was a Guess the ingredients competition for a mouth-watering dish and there was a winner. Overall, it was indeed an educational and interesting experience for everyone and food brought everyone together in these stalls!!
