Every year, the New South Wales Premier’s Office awards a series of research scholarships to educators seeking to develop new thinking and ideas in their chosen field. This extremely competitive process requires staff to develop a research project that they hope to investigate.
This year, Amity College is proud to announce that the Premier’s English Teacher’s Association Scholarship was awarded to our Head Teacher English, Mrs Ruth Read.
Ruth has been awarded a scholarship of up to $10,000 to travel around Australia investigating the effective ways that English teachers are using readily available technologies to improve the effectiveness and creativity of writing in students.
Ruth has arranged her travel so that it has minimal impact on her teaching here at Amity College, however, the project will have a significant impact on the literacy development of all Amity students.
On Wednesday 30th November, our Boys High School Principal was honored to join Ruth at the Premier’s Techer Scholarship Reception at State Library. Ruth was able to meet The Honourable Dominic Perrottet MP, Premier of New South Wales and The Honourable Sarah Mitchell, Minister for Education and Early Learning.
Ruth looks forward to sharing her findings with the Amity College community and using it to develop excellence in our students.
