The Amity College Art & Culture Expo 2025 marked a milestone 10th anniversary, celebrated at the Liverpool Powerhouse Arts Centre. The event brought together students, teachers, and the wider community in a spectacular showcase of creativity, culture, and talent.
Exhibition Highlights
This year’s gallery featured more than 150 student works, ranging from lino prints and ceramics to digital compositions and mixed media sculptures. Standout pieces included Bridge Between Two Homes by Omar Elbaz, exploring themes of dual identity, The Girl in the Window by Elsa Ekpe, a quiet study of solitude, and Afër-dita by Seida Haxhimolla, which challenged the boundary between fine art and everyday objects.
The winning logo design by Zeynep Kivrak, created under the theme Celebrating 10 Years of Creativity and Community, became the official visual identity of the Expo, symbolising the imagination and collaborative spirit that has defined the event.
Performances and Backstage Energy
The stage came alive with traditional cultural dances, contemporary music, piano recitals, and drama performances. The “Pink Panther” duet by Joud Saleh (Year 7) and Hassan Khan (Year 12) was a crowd favourite, alongside the Girls High School drama class’s comedic showcase and the Boys High School band’s dynamic set.
Backstage, the atmosphere was electric as students rehearsed and supported one another. Solo singer Reeanna Mulla described it as “super exciting,” while Bollywood dancer Samira Rahman called it “a fun and memorable experience”.
Tracy Smith Teacher Portrait Prize
A core feature of the Expo, the annual Tracy Smith Teacher Portrait Prize, honoured teachers through student portraiture. This year’s winners were:
- Packer’s Prize – Talia Rios
- People’s Choice (Highly Commended) – Talia Rios
- Judges’ Highly Commended – Mayla Al-Khafaji
- Teacher’s Choice – Berika Yeniturk
- People’s Choice & Judges’ Winner – Hafsa Karci, for her portrait of Ms Sumeyye Ipar
The prize, named in memory of artist and educator Tracy Smith, continues to celebrate the bond between students and teachers.
Student Involvement and Community Spirit
From performers and photographers to the Year 12 art installation crew, students played a central role in making the event possible. They not only displayed professionalism but also ensured every performance and artwork was presented thoughtfully.
A charity canape stall sold 160 plates, raising $800 for a good cause, adding a layer of community spirit to the night.
Looking Ahead
The Amity College Art & Culture Expo 2025 was more than a school event—it was a celebration of imagination, identity, and cultural diversity. As one student photographer, Manha Talukdar, reflected: “It was amazing watching all the cultural performances… with this experience alone, I know I’ll be coming back”.
With such success, anticipation is already building for the 2026 Expo.
