Celebrating Success at NEXT 2025

The creative talents of Amity College students were proudly recognised at the launch of NEXT 2025, the annual HSC Visual Arts exhibition held at Liverpool City Library (Yellamundie).

Showcasing exceptional works from students across the Liverpool LGA, the exhibition celebrates the diverse artistic voices, ideas, and perspectives emerging from our community. Among the featured finalists were Amity College students Alysia Jerochim and Maya Dhahir, an outstanding achievement that reflects both their dedication and artistic vision.

We are especially proud to announce that Alysia Jerochim was named a winner at the exhibition.

Alysia’s remarkable work, Fragmented Humanity, combines delicate watercolour techniques with more than 700 individually hand-formed ceramic figures. Through repetition and subtle variation, the work explores themes of individuality, conformity, and perspective. Accompanied by three larger sculptural forms representing differing emotional and psychological states, the piece invites audiences to reflect on how we perceive others while also questioning our understanding of ourselves.

Fellow finalist Maya Dhahir also captivated audiences with her sculptural series, We Never Really Die – Lucy (2014). Through welded metal drapery, fragmented cement forms, and expressive drawing, Maya’s work explores the relationship between consciousness, memory, and the physical body. Her thought-provoking approach examines transformation and the tension between mind and matter, creating a deeply reflective artistic experience.

NEXT 2025 will remain open during regular hours at Liverpool City Library until July, providing visitors with an inspiring opportunity to experience the creativity, depth, and innovation of young artists across the region.

Congratulations to Alysia and Maya on this incredible recognition and for representing Amity College with such creativity, passion, and excellence.

A special thank you and congratulations also goes to the Amity Arts team whose dedication, encouragement, and teamwork continue to inspire and nurture the next generation of creative thinkers and artists.
