Steps in Enrolment into Amity College
In order to apply for a place at Amity College it is necessary to complete an Application for Enrolment form available from the Admission’s Office.
This form should be lodged with the Registrar and include the appropriate fee of $100, school reports and other documents as required.
Applicants are placed on a waiting list according to date of receipt. It should be noted that placement on the waiting list does not guarantee a place.
All applicants are invited to sit an entrance exam in May/June every year. Students who meet the minimum education outcomes of Amity College are then invited for an interview with their family.
In 2019 our entrance exam will be held on Saturday June 1st
The interview is a critical part of the enrolment process. One or both parents must attend the College with the child. Interviews are an invaluable opportunity for Amity College to find out about the family and the child and discuss their suitability to the school culture.
It is an important opportunity to learn about the school ethos and management, and an opportunity for parents to discuss about any special abilities or needs of the child. Past reports and documents indicating past academic achievements must be brought to the interview
Applicants who have successfully passed the entrance exam and the interview process will be given an Enrolment Offer for a place at Amity College. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified through a letter.
All offers will be made in writing by the Principal and will be accompanied by a contract Specifying enrolment terms of conditions to be signed by both parents and or guardians and returned to the Admissions Office. The Letter of Offer will be valid for 4 weeks, in which a response must be received before the offer is withdrawn and offered to the next child on the waiting list. In minor cases Provisional Offers may be made, specifying certain applicable conditions.
Factors determining offer of placement include: the student’s ability to benefit from Amity College’s program (entrance exam and interviews), date of application, siblings and staff children will be given preferential treatment (where possible).
n order to secure a place, parents will be asked to pay a non-refundable enrolment fee of $250 (per child) and a $1000 (per family) security deposit (refundable when the child leaves the school).
Orientation days are arranged for children enrolling for Kindergarten in December. All new students from Kindergarten to year 12 will have Orientation Day one day before the rest of the College starting, in January. Orientation days are designed to help familiarise children and parent with the school facilities and review the student hand book, to learn about the school rules (student code of conduct) and administration requirements. The students will also be addressed and welcomed by the Principal, appropriate personnel, and various College Coordinators.
